The science of giving
Giving opens the way to receive from the Universal Foundation of all that exists. So we should not hesitate in giving the best that we have and never have any doubt about the result. We should have faith that what we need has already been provided for. It is on the way to materialize. This faith will give our consciousness the power to receive.
Happiness and sorrow are ours in accordance with the mental pictures we harbor and which act as magnetic fields. We should become aware of the fact that “thought are things’ because the human mind is the greatest centre of power in the universe.
Our thoughts -- good or bad, acquire concrete shape. We cannot have prosperity unless we are completely free from all negative thoughts of earlier period. One must understand this basic principle to benefit from nature’s immutable laws.
The American multimillionaires, Colgate and Rockfeller, were ordinary people in the beginning of their career. They progressed fast when they took to ‘give and take’ in a religious spirit. Colgate is today spending not only one-tenth in the Lord’s service but a great portion of his income.
Let it be made very clear that the cause of the success of these men is not any Divine favour or grace. Also those who do not give are certainly punished. Giving is as necessary as water for the tree. The cause of the giver’s good life or prosperity is contact with the Divine and His laws, which nourish his life on all fronts. So, we can say that giving is firm and faithful investment.
Modern American saints have said that in the days of the worst financial crisis in history, those who tithed were never in want. So, when you feel you are not in a position to tithe, that is the time when you must give in any way. When an earthy father cannot see his son in want or trouble, how can the heavenly Father do so. We are owners of His infinite inheritance. As His sons, we are spiritual entities and we have the power to change our circumstances and environment.
Let us watch our lives after giving the priority to tithing. Giving is proof of your faih in the lord which will enable you to lead noble, fearless lives.

Story of two brothers
There were two poor and parentless brothers. The elder one became the follower of the principle of Tithing and started it in spite of financial stringency. He was educating his younger brother.
The younger one did not believe in tithing. He was married in a rich family and got a good job away from home. He and his father-in-law spoke disparagingly and made fun of the elder brother for his charitable work – tithing.
The elder one had now a good job. Accordingly he has increased amount of tithing also.
Some ten years later, the elder brother invited the younger one to the marriage of his daughter. The younger one was surprised to find peace, prosperity and abundance as revealed by the marriage arrangements.
The elder brother attributed his happiness to tithing. He always tried to convince the younger one that giving is the secret of receiving as it opens the way for more to enter.
The younger one brushed aside what he was told in spite of the fact that he was now very unhappy, physically and financially.
